How to open StarOffice Calc.

You can use StarOffice Calc to create a spreadsheet.

A spreadsheet is a way of showing information in rows and columns. The multiplication tables are good examples of information shown in rows and columns.

There are many reasons for creating a spreadsheet, most often they are related to business and finances. Other reasons for creating a spreadsheet might include tracking inventory, books, research, and so on.
Calculate

To learn how to create a spreadsheet you are going to use the information you have already gathered in your previous activities on careers.

Let's open StarOffice Calc.

To open StarOffice Calc, double-click Quickstarter. Then click Spreadsheet.

Your spreadsheet is now open.

Each rectangular block is a "cell". You can simply click your mouse in any cell and enter information into it. Cells that go across the screen make up "rows". Cells that go down the screen make up "columns".

Name and save your file. If you have trouble, refer back to PART 1 "Saving Files".
