Global Volunteer Program

The Global Volunteer Program is an important element of Sun's community investment strategy. The program started at the grassroots level and relies upon the Sun workforce to lead and manage volunteer projects. The willingness to volunteer has been ingrained in the culture of the company. The time, skills and talents of Sun volunteers represent an important opportunity to make a difference in locations around the world, where Sun Microsystems has a presence.

Sun's Global Community Development organization has developed a global volunteer program to help Sun's global workforce share ideas and resources, post volunteer projects, track individual hours and promote volunteerism. This program is all about capturing how Sun volunteers think global, act local.

Our Volunteer Web Portal

Sun's Global Volunteer Program refers volunteers to non-profit/government agencies and public service community projects and activities that are found through the web portal. Through Sun's volunteer web portal, organizations can be eligible to request volunteers. Organizations need to, first, register at the following website, http://angelpoints.com/npo_apply.html. Registering only adds your agency to the data base. To have your agency's volunteer opportunities posted in the web portal, you must send an email to volunteersupport@Sun.Com. Please include pertinent details on your project.

Organizations that qualify to register at the web portal:

• An agency or organization that is a 501[c][3] public charity or governmental agency with 170[c]1.
• Entirely secular ""social service"" programs of religious organizations are acceptable.
