In April 2007, Sun held its 13th Annual Worldwide Volunteer Week. More than 1300 volunteers contributed 3559 hours of service toward 100 projects in 13 different countries. Examples include:

Buenos Aires, Argentina — Sun employees created an ongoing weekly tutorial program with "Hogar en Patas," a place dedicated to children and families affected by drugs, malnutrition, and violence. The program included workshops to help young people develop new skills and adopt ethical values. Some workshops took place at Sun offices.

Dallas, Texas, USA — The West Dallas Community Center serves one of the poorest neighborhoods in the U.S. Sun employees volunteer at the center, teaching young people and staff how to use the Internet and Sun technologies. Since 2001, Sun has made technology grants of computers and software to the center in recognition of the important role it plays in the local community.

Since its inception in 1995, more than 10,000 employees have participated in Sun's Global Volunteer Program, devoting a total of 85,000 hours. In addition, Sun employees serve on the boards of more than 93 nonprofit organizations.
