Injury and illness rates have declined in each of the past two years. In the 2006 calendar year, our total case incidence rate dropped by 45% from 2005 levels, our lost workday case incidence rate declined by 27%, and total days away from work declined by 40%.
Sun's incidence rate is well below the industry average, and our performance is better than the national industry average for NAICS code 334111 — Electronic Computer Manufacturing in all three categories, according to 2005 data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This may be due in part to a change in reporting methodology that we instituted, though it is unlikely that the entire decline can be attributed to this. We'll be able to more accurately analyze these results as we collect further data using this new methodology in future years.

Incidence rates are presented in reportable incidents per 100 employees per year. Total case incidence rate includes all reportable incidents. Lost workday case incidence rate includes all incidents that caused workers to stay home from work, while total days away from work includes incidents that caused workers to stay home and incidents that allowed workers to come in to work but forced them to restrict their normal work activity or perform duties other than their normal work activity.
