2007 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

Sun's 2007 CSR report follows closely on the heels of our inaugural (2006) report, published in January 2007. The 2007 report covers the fiscal year 2007 (year ending June 30, 2007) and includes all of the operations of Sun Microsystems, Inc.

We produced these reports in quick succession in order to align them with Sun's financial reporting. By aligning with Sun's fiscal year, we'll be able to leverage and build on data collection processes already in place and, equally important, closely track our CSR performance with our business performance. Future CSR reporting will remain on Sun's fiscal year cycle.

This report focuses on the corporate social responsibility issues that are material to both Sun and our stakeholders. These issues include:

• How our product offerings and business operations impact the natural environment
• Our efforts to address the digital divide that exists between those who have access to technology and those who don't
• Our work to ensure that the network is safe and secure
• Who works at Sun and how we work together to create a sustainable, thriving business
• The way our products are made and the people who make them
• How we collaborate with others — organizations, businesses, governments — to effect legislative, regulatory, and societal change
