2008 Corporate Social Responsibility Report

CSR Report: Our People

Sun's corporate employee health and safety programs are managed by our Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) group. The group's charter is to champion our philosophy of EHS stewardship throughout Sun, our partners, and suppliers.

Our employee health and safety programs are designed to prevent work-related injuries and illnesses and to comply with environmental, health, and safety laws and regulations. These programs are implemented systematically through our corporate EHS management system.

Ergonomics: Sun's commitment to a flexible work environment underpins our ergonomics philosophy. We aim to design adjustable work areas that meet the needs of a majority of employees. We make a range of ergonomic information available to employees, from basic Web-based information to professional ergonomics evaluations.

Health and Safety

Injury and illness prevention: The EHS team, managers, and employees work together to provide a safe working environment. The EHS team conducts periodic audits to identify and correct hazards. We require employees to report injuries, accidents, near misses, and hazards promptly so that the EHS can investigate and take corrective action to prevent them from happening again.

Training: We require all new Sun employees to take our EHS Awareness course. The EHS team assesses the need for further health and safety training and provides this where appropriate through online and instructor-led courses. Specific training requirements are based on employee responsibilities.
