CSR Report: Our People

We seek to engage employees in the decisions that affect their jobs, the work environment, and the company. For example, twice a year employees are asked to take our Power of Sun survey. The survey is designed to improve employee engagement and organizational performance by gathering confidential feedback from our employees.

We achieved our highest-ever participation rate of 74% in the fiscal 2008 surveys. We continue to encourage greater employee participation.

The first survey happens in the second quarter of our fiscal year and covers topics critical to employee experience and organizational performance. The second survey is in the fourth quarter and includes more specific questions about employee engagement. The survey results and action areas feed into our executive planning processes for the next fiscal year.

Recommend Sun Index (RSI)

The Recommend Sun Index (RSI) is an important aspect of the Power of Sun survey. It gauges the extent to which employees are willing to recommend Sun to prospective employees, customers, partners, and developers.

In 2008, Sun's employee RSI was 82%, and our goal for fiscal 2009 is 83%. We have designed an action plan to achieve this and will report the results in our 2009 report.
