Sun has implemented an Environmental Management System in order to provide a safe and eco-friendly work environment and to verify compliance with pertinent laws, regulations, and other requirements.
The system draws from the International Organization for Standardization's (ISO) 14001 certification guidelines, and includes an Environment, Health and Safety Policy; establishment of objectives and targets, monitoring and measuring; and routine management reviews.
ISO 14001 Certification
Several Sun locations are certified to the ISO 14001:2004 standard. These include all of our Sun-managed manufacturing and assembly operation facilities, which are located in Hillsboro, Oregon and Louisville, Colorado (internal manufacturing and assembly operations at Sun's Linlithgow facility have been discontinued as of April 2009. That site's ISO:14001 certification will therefore not be renewed). Objectives and targets at our certified locations - including solid waste reduction and enhanced management of air, water and other resources - are designed to ensure environmental protection and increased operational efficiency.
