Appointed Chief Information Officer of Sun Microsystems, Inc. in July 2006, Bob Worrall is responsible for all aspects of Sun's global IT infrastructure and line-of-business application development, support and maintenance, including information service delivery and security. Under Worrall's direction, the IT department is dedicated to working with business partners to accelerate Sun's business by aligning Sun's technology deployment strategy with its business strategy. The IT department takes a leadership role in the design of world-class, integrated strategies, processes and architecture that ensure the integrity of Sun's computing platform and a more productive, efficient and valuable use of information within the enterprise.

In addition, the IT department incorporates Sun's leading edge products and innovative technologies into its internal business support infrastructure to test and showcase new enterprise computing models. Feedback to product groups enhances the quality of Sun's products before they are released to customers.

Prior to his appointment as Sun's CIO, Worrall was honored by CIO Magazine as one of its 'Ones to Watch' for 2006. This prestigious award was given to 20 people nationwide who are considered future CIO's.

With 25 years of technical and IT management experience, Worrall has held a wide variety of Information Technology roles at Sun. Most recently, he served as Vice President of Information Technology, reporting directly to the CIO. In this role, he led Sun's IT Strategy, Architecture and Governance organization, and was responsible for defining the overall IT Architecture as well as managing all compliance and regulatory commitments for the IT organization.

Worrall also served as Vice President of applications for Sun's Global Sales and E-Commerce organizations as well as Vice President of Worldwide IT Operations which included responsibility for Systems Administration as well as Data Center, HelpDesk, Voice and Network Services.

Prior to Sun, Worrall was with Worlds of Wonder where he was the head of the company's IT organization. Worrall currently enjoys serving as an advisor to several Engineering and Business Colleges throughout the Bay Area.

Worrall holds an MBA from California State University Hayward.
