Fremont, California - 1995 - Present: The Sun Foundation awarded Blacow Elementary $100,000 in hardware, software, system support and training. The education grants are an effort to increase participation of under represented populations in technology courses and careers. Utilizing Sun technologies, students and teachers continue to expand access to curricula and references.

Dallas, Texas - 2002-Present: Volunteers from the Sun Dallas office adopted the West Dallas Community Centers. A Sun Foundation Grant provided the centers with Sun servers, Sunray monitors and software to accommodate 2 computer labs. Both labs are used year round for after school and summer programs. Sun volunteers installed the equipment and helped the centers establish a relationship with an Internet Service Provider. They trained the staff on UNIX and the students and staff on Staroffice and Mozilla. Argentina - 2005 Sun loaded a 15-seat lab onto a bus, which tours the 15,000 state schools in the Buenos Aires Province throughout the year. This mobile computer center equipped with Sun Ray ultra-thin clients traveled to remote areas to provide Internet and computing resources for K-12 students.The Ministry of Education estimates it can reach 4.5 million students this way, giving them computer access for the first time.   » Watch Video
