Charles Nutter has been working with Java since 1997 and co-leading the JRuby project since 2004. Charles hopes to make JRuby the best possible JVM implementation of the Ruby language and to make the JVM and the Java platform the best possible host for all languages. During his time working on JRuby it has become the fastest Ruby implementation available, and Charles plans to bring what he's learned working on JRuby to the wider JVM language development community by cultivating and assisting OSS projects like the JVM Languages group and the Multi-Language VM sub-project of OpenJDK.
