As a leader in Sun's Global Government Strategy office, Hellmuth Broda works with governments and partners worldwide to help them understand Sun's technology approaches to sharing, network participation and energy-efficient computing, and helps these organizations craft policy and legal decisions in these areas. Working from Basel, Switzerland, Hellmuth helps governments and organizations transform their operations through the use of new technologies and the network, emphasizing the business impact and benefits of IT as the driver for the new ways information is shared and moved in the participation age. His focus is presently on Open Source, Open Standards, Open Systems and OpenDocument Format (ODF). As an expert in the areas of Identity, Privacy and Trust Management as prerequisites for net based services, he actively serves on the Liberty Alliance Project of 160+ companies and organisations working together to build a federated network identity framework. He is an active member of the Business Marketing Expert Group in the Alliance, received the chairman's award in 2005 as part of Sun's Liberty team, and he serves as an industry expert and spokesperson around the world.
