Juan Carlos Soto is Vice President of Cloud Computing Marketing.

In the more than ten years that Mr. Soto has been with Sun, he has held a number of technical and business positions, most recently leading the Market Development organization. He has also served as Vice President of Market Development Engineering, Advanced Development, and User Experience Engineering; Software CTO and Vice President of SW Lifecycle Engineering; Sr. Director of Market Development Engineering; Director of Software CTO Office and Advanced Development; Marketing Manager and Open Source Community Manager for Project JXTA; Business Development Manager of Java Software; and Engineering Manager of Java and Consumer Software. Mr. Soto was a recipient of the 2004 Sun Microsystems Leadership Award and selected for the 2005 Sun Microsystems Leadership Institute.

Prior to joining Sun in 1997, Mr. Soto was Director of Product Development at Diba, Inc., a pioneer in the development of Information Appliances. Diba was acquired by Sun. Prior to Diba, Mr. Soto held various positions in engineering and marketing management at several Hewlett-Packard instrumentation divisions (now part of Agilent) and computer divisions. Mr. Soto was a recipient of Hewlett-Packard's Engineering Fellowship Award.

Mr. Soto holds a B.S. in Computer Engineering from the University of Florida, an M.S. in Computer Science from the University of Colorado, and an M.S. in Engineering Management from Stanford University.
