President and Managing Director, Sun Microsystems UK & Ireland
Sun Microsystems Inc.

Kim Jones is responsible for leading the Sun UK & Ireland region. In this role she is focused on growing the business by working closely with customers and partners to deliver innovative, sustainable technologies that meet the ever changing demands of UK and global business. Kim oversees all sales and managerial functions within Sun's UK operations, and directs growth strategies for the company's server, storage, software and services portfolios. Kim has deep industry knowledge and global market experience in enterprise computing. Her long-standing commitment to customers, determination to go the extra mile and instinctive business insights ensure clients and partners continuously capitalize on Sun's innovative solutions.

Prior to accepting the role of UK MD, Kim was Vice President of Global Education, Government and Healthcare, where she headed up a team committed to providing advanced technologies and services to key constituencies in the public sector. Having been with Sun since 1987, Kim brings with her a wealth of experience in various sales, business development, marketing, management, and senior leadership positions. Kim has been in the technology industry for over 20 years. Prior to joining Sun, she held a number of sales, marketing and marketing and management positions at Wang Laboratories and Xerox Corporation.

Kim serves on the Board of Trustees for the Western Governors University. She is also on the Board of Directors for Curriki, the Sun Microsystems Foundation, World Bank Institute Advisory Council and the MIT open wave course advisory board.

In 2001, as testament to her superior performance, Kim received the Sun Leadership Award and served on Sun's leadership council. She also received the prestigious YWCA Award for Women in Business. In 2006, she was inducted into the Women in Technology International (WITI) Hall of Fame. Kim graduated with honours with a Bachelors of Arts degree from University of California, San Diego.
