Sun Releases xVM VirtualBox OEM Deals
August 11, 2008—Sun Microsystems today announced partner agreements with three software solution vendors to place Sun xVM VirtualBox at the center of their virtual computing solutions. These multi-year original equipment manufacturer (OEM) contracts expand the global reach of Sun xVM VirtualBox.
The Next Step in Virtualization
Continuing Sun's virtualization drive, the company has created OEM agreements with Avanquest Software, Q-layer and Zenith InfoTech that enable these independent solutions vendors to make Sun xVM VirtualBox their central virtual computing solution. Sun xVM VirtualBox is an open source virtualization software that allows developers and users to create "virtual machines" that make it easy to work on cross-platform applications from any single platform. You can download Sun xVM VirtualBox via the OEM program or in a free, open source version here.
Leveraging the power of Sun's open source virtualization solutions, Avanquest Software, Q-layer and Zenith InfoTech among are the first three companies to use OEM agreements to deliver highly available, secure and dynamic virtualized offerings. Avanquest's COO Andy Goldstein notes that "there's a huge need for cross-platform virtualization technologies that enable the growing Mac population to still use a Windows-based software." In addition, Zenith InfoTech CEO Akash Saraf says that with "Sun xVM VirtualBox at the core of our in-house solutions, we have significantly reduced our costs and increased time to deployment for customers."
These three initial OEM contracts put Avanquest Software, Q-layer and Zenith InfoTech among Sun's growing ecosystem of partners committed to Sun xVM VirtualBox.
