Sun Introduces OpenSSO Enterprise

September 30, 2008—Sun's new OpenSSO Enterprise identity management software delivers a fully supported and indemnified open source single sign-on solution that handles inbound and outbound single sign-on as well as internal and external single sign-on, protecting access within the enterprise and outside with partners. One Solution Solves Three Single Sign On Problems

Three Integrated Components

OpenSSO Enterprise is the combination of what was formerly named Sun Java System Access Manager and Sun Java System Federation Manager. It has a simpler, more intuitive user interface and is comprised of three main, integrated components:
  • Web Access Management with Embedded Directory Server along with the new centralized server and centralized agent configurations reduce the time and expense of maintaining a Web access management system.
  • Federated SSO is enabled with a multi-protocol federation hub plus a Fedlet, which is a lightweight federation package that lets service providers quickly federate with an identity provider.
  • Secure Web Services are secured in a standardized, repeatable way that does not require plug-ins. Its Security Token Service (STS) centralizes the process of issuing, validating, and translating Web service tokens.
