Proving that good looks and intelligence can go hand-in-hand, Sun Microsystems has been recognized this week with two prestigious 2003 Good Design Awards for its 24" Flat Panel Monitor, and Sun Fire Blade Server products.
The Chicago Athenaeum Museum of Architecture selected Sun's products from hundreds of submissions received from over 40 countries. One of the goals of the program is to honor both products and industry leaders in design and manufacturing that have chartered new directions for competitive products in the world marketplace.
The museum's Good Design program was founded in 1950 with the participation of some of America's most important designers like Eero Saarinen, Charles and Ray Eames, Alexander Girard, and others. Submissions to the program are judged by a jury of design professionals on criteria of the highest aesthetic in terms of innovative design, form, materials, construction, concept, function, and utility.
The Good Design Awards attest to the work of Sun's User Centered Design
Group, which is committed to designing innovative products that deliver
the best possible user experience to Sun's customers.
