Sun Teams With Bono to Enlist Americans for ONE Campaign
Thursday, Apr. 14, 4:00 PM PT
The ONE Campaign is a non-profit initiative launched by Bono, the singer and social activist, to raise the voices of citizens to combat AIDS and poverty in Africa. This opportunity, and the offer to make it a reality, was part of a wish granted to Bono as a recipient of the innaugral TED Prize, awarded on Thursday, February 24 at the TED conference in Monterey, California.
Sun Microsystems has powered up a system to "elist" names for the One Campaign using a creative combination of Java technology, java.com site participation and technologies from Voxiva. Individuals can Join Bono in the fight to end the cycles of poverty and the devastation of AIDS simply by sending a text message from their mobile phone or any other Java-powered device during U2's Vertigo concert tour.

About ONE Foundation

The ONE Campaign is engaging Americans through a diverse coalition of faith-based and anti-poverty organizers to show the steps people can take to fight global AIDS and poverty. By joining the ONE Campaign, people will have the opportunity to make a difference, to commit themselves -- one person, one voice, one vote at a time -- to make a better, safer world for all.
