Timothy Bresnahan is professor of economics at Stanford University - the Landau Professor in Technology and the Economy as well as chair of the economic department, professor of economics for the Graduate School of Business, and senior fellow of the Stanford Institute for Economic Policy Research (SIEPR). He is interested in industrial organization, applied econometrics, microeconomics and the economics of technology. Currently, Bresnahan is researching competition in high technology industries and technical change by users of information technologies. Previously, he has served as chief economist of the Antitrust Division of the United States Department of Justice. Bresnahan has a Ph.D. from Princeton University and a bachelor's degree from Haverford College.
