The Java 2 Platform is a computing paradigm that enables anytime,
anywhere information access using any networkable device, from the smart
card to the supercomputer. Although the Java 2 platform was created by
Sun, its evolution is directed through a fully open, community
participative manner called the Java Community Process (sm) program.
Java technology provides a comprehensive, end-to-end architecture for
building and deploying network-centric applications for the enterprise
and consumer. The Java 2 Platform is divided into three market specific
editions, including: Enterprise Edition (J2EE), Standard Edition (J2SE),
and Micro Edition (J2ME).
