Clark Masters Vice President & General Manager Enterprise System Products System Products Group, Sun Microsystems, Inc. As vice president and general manager of Sun's Enterprise Systems Products, Clark Masters is responsible for overseeing the engineering, design, manufacturing and product marketing for Sun's server product line including the highly acclaimed Strafer server (Sun Enterprise 10000) for commercial and high performance computing markets. Masters is also responsible for overseeing Sun's HPC initiatives, including server, software and management tools to enable web-centric supercomputing for high performance and technical computing markets. His contributions at Sun are immeasurable and as a result of his dedication and commitment to the company and his organization, he was awarded the 1999 Sun Leadership of The Year award. Beginning his career over 25 years ago, Masters has an extensive background in the high performance computer industry. Before joining Sun in 1996, Masters was vice president and general manager of Cray Research's Business Systems, where he maintained several positions during his tenure with Cray. In addition to leading Cray's Business Systems division as VP & GM, he was Chief Engineer, VP of Development, VP of Manufacturing and Development and corporate officer. Prior to Cray's acquisition of Floating Point System (FPS) Computing in 1991, Masters was VP of Engineering at FPS where he was responsible for all engineering activities related to the development of the 500EA supercomputer and its transition to the SPARC based supercomputer which evolved to become Sun's high-end SMP servers of today. Masters was also an integral part of a start-up company Celerity Computing, acquired by FPS Computing in 1988, where he was VP of Systems Engineering. He began his distinguished career in 1969 with NCR Corporation, where he was responsible for engineering and received NCR's highest corporate R&D award for outstanding technical achievement for his contributions in mainline integration methods for software engineering. | |||||||
