For the past several years, Sun Microsystems and Oracle Corporation have collaborated to develop a highly available, consolidated system to support Oracle's global operations.This session will present a case study outlining the first two phases of the program - from installation of four Sun Fire E12K servers clustered with Solaris 8 OS and Sun Cluster Software all running Oracle 9i Real Application Clusters to further consolidation of additional heterogenous systems into the Global Single Instance. Setting The Foundation for The Next Evolution - Oracle's New Fusion Applications - With Java Technology and Free UNIX (R)

With all four of Oracle's application product lines (E-Business Suite, PeopleSoft, JD Edwards and Retek) moving to Oracle's Fusion Java Technology- based Web Services application line, many customers are wondering what is a Java technology-based Web Services Architecture. Sun will present the basics of Java technology-based Web Services Architectures, why it's taking off in the industry and how customers can take advantage of it. Sun will also discuss the open sourcing of the Solaris OS -- Oracle, PeopleSoft and Retek's most widely used UNIX operating system -- and how to automate Oracle application deployment on fewer servers.
