Executive BiosJohn Loiacono, Executive Vice President, Software Group As executive vice president of Sun's software group, John Loiacono leads the company's unified software business and focus. Sun's market leading software organization is one of the largest in the industry, responsible for the Solaris Operating Environment and the Java System, an innovative collection of highly integrated Java infrastructure software and the industry's number one desktop alternative. Prior to his role as head of Sun's software division, Loiacono served as senior vice president of Sun's operating platforms group. Before that, Loiacono held the position of Chief Marketing Officer at Sun where he managed Sun's overall brand, marketing and marketing communications strategy. Loiacono has been with Sun since 1987 and was instrumental in establishing the company as a pioneer in the area of enterprise network computing. He holds a B.A. in communications from Fresno State University. Sara Gates, Vice President, Identity Management As the Vice President of Identity Management Marketing at Sun Microsystems, Sara is responsible for market positioning, product definition and outbound communications for Sun's identity management product line. She brings a wealth of consulting and go-to-market strategy experience to her role, which she leverages to solve customer problems and build competitive market advantage. Prior to Sun, Sara was Director of Product Management & Marketing at Waveset Technologies, driving product strategy and direction. Prior to that she served as Director at Microsoft, with responsibility for taking new technologies to market. Sara has also worked with Deloitte & Touche Consulting Group's Merger & Acquisition practice. John Barco, Director of Strategic Marketing John Barco is the Director of Strategic Marketing for the Identity Management software group at Sun. John is responsible for leading the strategy, identity standards marketing and global system integrator partner management for Sun's Identity Management product line. John joined Sun with more than 12 years of industry experience focused on bringing innovative products to market from various technology companies including Silicon Graphics, Wamnet and RasterOps. He holds a B. S. degree in Industrial Engineering from Southwest Missouri State University. Don Bowen, Director of Directory Services Don is the Director of Directory Services for the Identity Management software group at Sun. Don has over 7 years of experience in identity management and 25 years of experience in Information Technology working in education, engineering, manufacturing, software and telecommunications. As the former Chief Directory Architect at Caterpillar Inc., he played a leading role in the architecture, design, and implementation of their enterprise directory, using meta-directory technology. He also designed and built Caterpillar's enterprise web single sign-on service. Prior to joining Sun in 2001, Don was a Principal Consultant at Burton Group, where he helped enterprises develop their identity management strategies. He holds a B.S. degree in Mathematics from Western Illinois University. Jennifer Belissent, Group Marketing Manager for Java System Communications Jennifer is currently a Group Manager for the Java System Communications software, which includes e-mail, calendar and instant messaging products. In her current role, Jennifer works closely with customers to help them understand the value of enhanced communications services, the importance of communication security, and the benefits of communications infrastructure consolidation. Jennifer has had a number of other assignments at Sun, including strategic planning for the Communications products, competitive positioning across the Sun's software portfolio, and business development for communications and portal products within iPlanet Engineering. Jennifer brings a unique perspective to Sun based on her non-traditional background and experiences. Jennifer earned a PhD in Political Science from Stanford, has worked extensively in on post-communist reforms in Russia and Eastern Europe, and was a high school math teacher in the Central African Republic. Matthew Rollender, Senior Group Marketing Manager, Network Systems Group Matthew Rollender is a Senior Group Marketing Manager at Sun Microsystems' Network Systems Group. Rollender has over 15 years of industry experience, including marketing, business development, and engineering roles. At Sun, Rollender's responsibilities include product marketing of Sun's secure application switches, as well as international business development. Prior to Sun, Rollender spent nearly three years at Nauticus Networks (acquired by Sun) in the same role. Rollender joined Nauticus from Intel Corporation, where he spent nearly eight years at Intel Corporation in a variety of marketing, strategy, and management positions. Previously, Rollender was the Director of Marketing with Intel's Converged Edge Division, where he was responsible for all aspects of marketing for Intel's Dial Access, Router, and Virtual Private Networking product lines. Prior to this, Rollender held several positions at Intel, including the Director of Marketing with Intel's Network Interface Division, where he was responsible for growing Intel's 10/100 Fast Ethernet business, and product marketing and product line management of various imaging products. Prior to his tenure with Intel, Rollender worked as a software developer specializing in low frequency acoustic Digital Signal Processing algorithm development for the defense industry. He started his career developing spread spectrum communications systems for the U.S. Government. Rollender holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maine, an MS in Electrical Engineering from North Carolina State University and an MBA from Boston University. He also holds three patents. Paul Read, Director of Outbound Marketing, Network Systems Group Paul Read is the Director of Outbound Marketing for Sun's Network Systems Group, responsible for driving awareness, consideration and ultimately sales of Sun's x64 (x86 servers and workstations) systems powered by AMD Opteron processors and Sun's application server switches. Prior to Sun, Read was a Senior Director at Vicinity Corporation and before its acquisition by Microsoft Corporation, was instrumental in bringing location services such as maps and driving directions to the Web. Read has also held Senior of Marketing positions at Symantec Corporation and Olivetti in both Canada and Italy. Read has an MBA from York University's Shulich School of Business in Toronto, Canada and currently resides in Northern California. Gilles Gravier, Market Development Manager for EMEA Gilles Gravier is responsible for defining and implementing Sun Microsystem's partnering strategy in Europe in the Security field. As such, Gilles works with leading software vendors to jointly offer best of breed solutions that complement Sun's secure platforms offerings. Gilles has been at Sun for more than 10 years and driving security related activities, including advising key customers on architectural implications of security in the EMEA region for over the last 5 years. He has an MS degree in formal computer systems design. Lewis Carr, Director of Client Services Marketing for the Desktop and Mobility Practice As Director of Client Services Marketing for the Desktop and Mobility practice at Sun Microsystems, Inc. Lewis Carr is an integral part of the Software and Solutions Marketing team. Lewis is responsible for defining, developing and marketing a portfolio of desktop and mobility solutions within the larger Client Solutions Practice organization. He is currently helping Sun's Infrastructure Solutions experts to introduce the Sun Secure Network Access Platform, the latest alternative thin client desktop solution. During his six-year career at Sun, Lewis has held a number of product marketing and management positions. He was instrumental in marketing a variety of best-in-class Sun products and solutions such as: the launching of Sun's entry into the embedded cPCI/cPSB market in Microelectronics and Netra Systems in VSP. Later he led efforts to identify, prioritize and recruit key ISVs to the JES stack during his tenure in iPlanet and the Sun ONE Market Development groups, and worked with key Defense agencies on next-generation platforms from within the Industry Marketing organization. Prior to joining Sun, Lewis spent four years in Tokyo with Motorola, Inc. where he was first a systems engineering manager. His next role there was as regional marketing manager covering Asia Pacific, India, Australia and Japan. Before his positions at Motorola, Lewis was a research engineer for eight years at Stanford Research Institute. At Stanford University Lewis designed, integrated, and tested laser-based remote detection and measurement systems. Lewis earned his bachelor of science's and master's degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of California at Davis. Sandra Cook, Director, Desktop & Mobility Practice, Client Solutions As a director for the Desktop and Mobility practice in the Client Solutions Organization at Sun Microsystems, Inc. Sandra Cook is responsible for driving successful solutions and desktop sales. Sandra also develops Sun's global customer engagements. In this role, she is currently helping the team with Sun's leading technology offerings including: Sun Ray, JDS and Star Office. Sandra started as a director in July of 2004 and has been at Sun for the past 12 years. She spent her first nine years with Sun in the United Kingdom as an account manager and sales manager within the Investment Banking District. Then moved to help Sun create its move to solution selling. Responsible for the design of the solution selling model and worked on the design team for Client solutions. Prior to joining Sun, Sandra was the Global Account Director for PriceWaterhouseCoopers. She also worked at Wang in sales and technical roles. Sandra graduated from Exeter University and Aston University, Birmingham in the U.K . with a master's degree. Brad D. Bauch, CISSP, PricewaterhouseCoopers Brad is a Partner in PricewaterhouseCoopers' Security and Privacy Practice with over ten years of experience in information systems audit and security. His experience includes performing technology audits, risk assessments, and security vulnerability assessments, as well leading large-scale information security implementation projects. Brad's primary focus is in the area of Identity Management, where he helps clients solve the complex issue of managing user access to their information systems. He is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP). |
