Seismic
If you're going to sell into the communications industry, earthquake testing is required per GR-63-CORE. Customers in seismically active areas ask all other industries how earthquake-resistant or -proof their equipment is before making a purchase decision. This specification will influence a customer buy decision for products such as appliances, surgical/medical, diagnostic, manufacturing, structural, data processing equipment, as well as many others.
Testing to seismic requirements will give you an additional sales tool for this revenue stream of customers. Sun APT Lab can supply a full range of testing from Zone 1 through 4. Unless you are courting a customer in a location that is not seismically active, we will test to Zone 4 requirements. Under-testing may exclude customers in seismically active areas such as San Francisco, the pacific northwest USA, South America, parts of Europe, Asian regions and many other areas.
The Earthquake Simulator, or "shake table," was the first of its kind ever to be located in Colorado. We have the only table of this kind in this part of the USA. The servo-hydraulic system is capable of imparting all test stimuli prescribed by various testing regimens. Test product weights to 3000 pounds can be evaluated throughout the dynamic range of .1 to 500 Hz. The earthquake simulator can handle individual components to fully configured product systems of immense weight and dimension. The extremely large simulator test bed size will allow for a wide variety of test articles in support of many industries. Both the operational and packaged conditions of product may be verified in response to required product protocols.
