Diskless Setup for the Solaris OS for x86 Platforms

Introduction

This document describes the steps for setting up a diskless installation for the Solaris Operating System in an x86 environment. Also described is how to set up a separate a TFTP/DHCP and NFS/root server for a similar environment. Additionally, this article describes problems that could occur during setup and how to resolve them.

Starting with the Solaris 10 1/06 release, use the procedures in this document to prepare for adding a diskless client. The procedures include general information for x86 based systems.
