You may now submit technical tips and articles about Solaris development
and the Sun Studio tools for publication on developers.sun.com. You can
submit the content the same way you submit sys admin-focused content by
using the BigAdmin submission process.
The editors will determine the most appropriate place to publish your article.
Overview of BigAdmin Bucks Program
The BigAdmin Bucks Program (the "Program") is a time-limited reward program
through which individuals can earn points ("BigAdmin Bucks") that can be
redeemed for rewards ("Rewards").
The program concludes on September 30, 2009, and any remaining time shall be referred to as the program period.
Individuals may participate in the program by submitting
content that qualifies for the BigAdmin Bucks program,
which is defined below. The Participants must agree to the program
terms at the time of submission.
The Participants (see definition and eligibility requirements below)
must provide their email address during each submission, and this
is the identifier by which the BigAdmin bucks will accumulate.
If any information provided by Participant changes, Participant must
notify Sun by email at babucks-feedback [at] sun.com.
The Program will reward users for accepted submissions with
BigAdmin Bucks that can be redeemed for Rewards.
For every accepted submission, BigAdmin Bucks will be accumulated as follows:

Script (5 bucks)
Short Tech Tip - 1 page or less (10 Bucks)
Regular Tech Tip - 2 to 4 pages (20 Bucks)
Long Tech Tip/Article - 5+ pages (30 Bucks)
Long Article - 8 or more pages (40 Bucks)
Each Participant is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of
his/her Account. Participants are encouraged to check their
Accounts to ensure that the correct number of BigAdmin Bucks
has been accrued to their Accounts.
If a Participant believes that BigAdmin Bucks were not
properly accrued to his/her Account, the Participant must notify
Sun by sending an email to babucks-feedback [at] sun.com.
Acceptance of any submission is at the sole discretion of
Sun and is based on the quality and content of the submission,
relevance to the audience, and uniqueness.
Any submissions that are not accepted will not accumulate
BigAdmin Bucks nor will they be published on the BigAdmin site.
Submitted materials become the property of Sun and will not be returned.
In order to submit materials for consideration under the
BigAdmin Bucks Program, you must accept the BigAdmin Bucks
Program Participation Agreement located
here.
By submitting content to the BigAdmin portal, you are attesting
that your submission is your own non-confidential property and
does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any party.
Submitters found to be in violation of this rule will
have their content removed from the site and will be banned
from further participation in this Program.
You can redeem BigAdmin Bucks for Rewards by
going to the Check Your Bucks
page and enter your email address.

Contributors with the highest point values will be featured on the BigAdmin All Stars page.
Supplies are limited. Sun reserves the right to substitute Rewards of comparable value or change Reward offerings at any time. The amount of BigAdmin Bucks awarded for submissions and the amount needed to redeem for Rewards may be changed at any time with or without notice.
The Rewards are only available in exchange for BigAdmin Bucks. If any of the Rewards costs more than the number of BigAdmin Bucks that a Participant has in his/her Account, the Participant may not pay cash for the difference.
Participants will have 60 days after the end of the Program Period to redeem their BigAdmin Bucks for Rewards. Any BigAdmin Bucks remaining in a Participant's account after that time will be forfeited without compensation.
Please allow 4-6 weeks for shipment of any of the Rewards.
No refunds will be provided for any of the Rewards. If for any reason an item is received damaged, becomes unavailable prior to shipment, or cannot be fulfilled for whatever reason, Sun in its sole discretion reserves the right to replace the item with a similar item of equal or greater value or to credit the Participant's Account with the amount of BigAdmin Bucks redeemed for the item.
The two types of written submissions are Tech Tips and Articles. Tech Tips are shorter in nature and typically deal with a single concept. Articles are broader in scope and longer. The BigAdmin staff will ultimately determine which category your accepted submission falls into.
Articles and tech tips may be submitted using the submittal form. Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an email with the address where you can send the file. Submission requests:
Acceptable file formats include plain text, RTF, StarOffice/OpenOffice, and Word.
Graphics should be in separate files, not embedded.
Multiple files can be sent as .zip or .tar.
Please include a one-paragraph bio or specify if you prefer to remain anonymous.
Articles and tech tips may be submitted using the
submittal form.

Contributors may participate on an individual basis ("Participants") provided that Participant's employer does not oppose such individual participation and the receipt by the employee of an award under the
Program. Enrollment into the Program will be at the discretion of Sun.
Each Participant is responsible for compliance with his/her employer's policies regarding the receipt of promotional items.
Participant represents and warrants that Participant has been granted
the authority and permission by his/her employer to participate in this Program.
Employees of Sun Microsystems, Inc. and its affiliates, as well as the immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings and children) and household members of each such employee are not eligible.
Government employees are not eligible to participate.
Participation in the Program constitutes Participant's and their
employer's full and unconditional agreement to these terms and
conditions.
Sun reserves the right to modify any of the terms and conditions set forth herein - including, but not limited to, the duration of the Program Period, at any time, with or without notice, even though these changes may affect a Participant's ability to accrue or use his/her BigAdmin Bucks.
Participant's continued participation in the Program constitutes the Participant's acceptance of any changes to these terms and conditions. Participants are responsible for remaining knowledgeable as to any changes that Sun may make to these terms and conditions. The most current version will be available at http://sun.com/bigadmin/giveaway/ and will supersede all previous versions.
The Program is subject to all local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.
Sun reserves the right to discontinue the participation privileges of any Participant who engages in any fraudulent activity or uses the Program in a manner inconsistent with these terms and conditions or any federal or state laws, statutes or ordinances. Discontinued participation privileges may result in the loss of all accumulated BigAdmin Bucks and benefits. In addition to discontinuance of participation privileges, Sun shall have the right to take appropriate administrative and/or legal action, including criminal prosecution, as it deems necessary in its sole discretion.
Any attempt by any person to undermine the legitimate operation of the Program through fraud or any other means may be a violation of criminal and civil law, and, should such an attempt be made, Sun reserves the right to seek damages from any such person to the fullest extent permitted by law. Sun's failure to enforce any of these terms and conditions shall not constitute a waiver of that, or any other, provision.
BigAdmin Bucks do not constitute property of a Participant and may be revoked by Sun at any time as set forth herein. BigAdmin Bucks may be not transferred or assigned, and are not transferable upon death, as part of a domestic relations matter or otherwise by operation of law.
Sun is not responsible for any incorrect or inaccurate information supplied by Participants while participating in the Program.
All questions or disputes regarding eligibility for the Program,
whether BigAdmin Bucks can be earned or redeemed, or a Participant's compliance with these Terms and Conditions, will be resolved by Sun in its sole discretion.
If Sun improperly denies a Participant any BigAdmin Bucks or a Reward, Sun's entire liability and Participant's sole and exclusive remedy will be limited to a distribution of the equivalent amount of BigAdmin Bucks or the Reward as set forth above. By participating in the Program, a Participant waives any and all rights to bring any claim or action related to such matters in any forum beyond one (1) year after the first occurrence of the kind of act, event, condition or omission upon which the claim or action is based.
To the fullest extent allowable by law, Sun specifically disclaims any representations or warranties, express or implied, regarding the Rewards, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose and implied warranties arising from course of dealing or course of performance. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.
