General Notes: Xorg sis_drv.so module works but has noise on the screen. Used xorgconfig to switch to vesa module. System will install and boot with 32-bit kernel only, but Celeron 220 is a 64-bit capable Conroe-L core. So S10u4 will not reboot after install unless booted manually into 32-bit first (append 'kernel/unix' to grub boot line) and then Kernel jumbo patch applied. Currently relies on kernel patch 127112-05 included with the recommended cluster patch.

A number of requestors have contacted me (the original submitter) to clarify if Conroe-L on this platform does run 64-bit. And the short answer is: YES! The workaround listed in the General Notes section was to get a workaround for S10u4 back at that release. We have since released fixes and later S10 update 5. These fix the problem. Users still wanting to run S10u4, can follow the process above and apply the kernel jumbo patch and on subsequent reboots, will get into 64-bit with the kernel patched. Also, I should note that even though mobo specs say 1GB RAM, I have since run it with a 2 GB 128x8 stick of DDR2 533 and it boots and is recognized by the SiS chipset.
