Beaware of Bug 6451513 Title: pci_autoconfig: PCI enumeration on HP DL585/DL380 hangs at boot Work Around: If you use a serial console, and enable pci_autoconfig debugging it appears to alleviate the problem. So: eeprom console=ttya input-device=ttya output-device=ttya Edit /boot/grub/menu.lst and comment / uncomment the lines indicated by the notes in that file: 1) uncomment the lines starting `serial' and `terminal' 2) comment out the one starting with `splashimage' Add 'set pci_autoconfig:pci_boot_debug=1' to the /etc/system file. Optionally reconfigure the BIOS to use the serial port and you're away. There is a beta patch IDR124145-02.tar.Z so people can install a code fix for this problem. You install IDR124145-02 with patchadd. When the released patch with this fix comes out you will need to remove the IDR. It will show up on a system via showrev -p, just like a patch, but it is not something Sun provides support for the way we do patches.
