Why Register?

When you register your hardware and software (gear), Sun Inventory discovers the gear in your environment, and collects information about the gear, such as the product name, release version, host name of the system on which the product is installed, and other basic product information. This information is then transmitted securely to Sun Inventory and is matched with your Sun Online Account information.

What Is a Sun Service Tag?

Sun Service Tag services are designed to automatically discover your Sun gear for quick and easy registration. A service tag uniquely identifies each tagged piece of gear, and allows the gear information to be shared over a local network in a standard XML format.
