Description:
About a year ago I came to the conclusion that the threat of social engineering has increased due to a recent focus on systems security (e.g. firewalls, OS hardening, IDS, etc.). In other words, hackers may consider it easier to gather information through a few phone calls and complain to the help desk that they can't get in through VPN. The best way to defend against social engineering is a solid security awareness program. It is also a critical component of an information security program.
The security awareness group provides a forum to discuss awareness program methodologies and share security awareness tips. Those interested in learning more about information security will benefit benefit from the exchange of tips and the opportunity to ask questions.
In 5 months membership has grown to over 450 members.
