Here are some miscellaneous interoperability resources:

• BigAdmin Hardware Resource Collection, which lists hardware resources on BigAdmin as well as third-party resources and community submissions

• Take the Guess Work Out of Deploying Scalable and Cost-Effective Oracle Data Warehouses, a 56-minute video (registration required) that features an expert panel from Ziff Davis, Sun Microsystems, and Oracle discussing how to deal with the countless combinations of hardware components when creating a new infrastructure

• An Open Source Web Solution - Lighttpd Web Server and Chip Multithreading Technology, a Sun BluePrints paper (registration required) that describes a reference implementation based on the Lighttpd Web server software and Sun SPARC Enterprise T5120 servers, and explores performance and scalability when running dynamic workloads

• Using Kerberos to Authenticate a Solaris 10 OS LDAP Client With Microsoft Active Directory, a BigAdmin article that describes a proof of concept scenario for configuring a Solaris OS client to use Microsoft Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition (Active Directory) for authentication and naming services

• Sun x64 Systems - Microsoft Windows Compatibility, a web site that provides compatibility information for Microsoft Windows on Sun Fire x64 systems and certification information for Microsoft Cluster

• Information about the Sun/Microsoft Interoperability Center:

  • This announcement describes the opening of the Sun/Microsoft Interoperability Center on Microsoft's Redmond campus for optimizing Microsoft applications on Sun Fire x64 server systems and storage, and the availability of the Sun Infrastructure Solution for Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.

  • Infrastructure Solution for Microsoft Exchange. This Sun web site explains how Sun's Infrastructure Solution for Microsoft Exchange 2007 helps make the most of Microsoft's messaging and collaboration server.

  • Microsoft Exchange Solution Reviewed Program (ESRP) - Storage v2.1*. This Microsoft web site describes the ESRP, which is designed to facilitate third-party storage testing and solution publishing for Exchange Server.

  • This video on Pierre Reynes's blog provides additional info about the Interoperability Center.

• Information about the Common Internet File System (CIFS), which is included in Sun's distribution of OpenSolaris and is a file system that Solaris, Microsoft Windows, and MacOS systems can have in common:

  • MySQL 5.1 Database Deployment Over CIFS Using Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System, a BigAdmin article that describes using a MySQL 5.1 database on a Sun server running Microsoft Windows 2003 Server, with a volume of a Sun Storage 7000 Unified Storage System mounted using CIFS as a repository for database files
