Sun offers a suite of tools and services to help you successfully upgrade to the Solaris 10 OS and advanced server technologies. Using these services, you can protect your legacy application investment, mitigate upgrade costs and risks, improve IT efficiency and service delivery, and adapt to evolving corporate standards, strategies, and regulatory pressures.

Upgrade Services

The Sun Enterprise Migration Suite provides a variety of Solaris 10 upgrade services, such as:

• The Solaris 10 Evaluation Service, which can help you weigh the benefits, costs, and risks of upgrading versus maintaining the status quo (The output of this service provides recommendations for the next steps.)

• The Sun Application Migration Service and Application Migration Factory, which are available for porting custom UNIX or Linux applications

• And services for migrating non-Sun platforms to Sun systems and software, such as the Sun Enterprise Migration Justification Review, the Sun Enterprise Migration Architecture Service, and the Sun Enterprise Migration Implementation Service

Sun also offers custom consulting contracts to help you with your upgrade projects. Sun Services experts carefully analyze business objectives, business processes, and operational requirements to create a business case and upgrade strategy, and then design and implement a solution based on your unique environment. Virtualization and Consolidation Services: Optimize the Data Center (Don't Just Upgrade the OS)

Upgrading to the Solaris 10 OS is only the beginning. Sun's virtualization and consolidation solutions can help you simplify your disconnected and disparate IT environments and, in turn, achieve greater economies of scale while reducing ecological impact.

For example, Sun's Virtualization Suite of Services can help you run your data center more efficiently. Sun will consult with you on specific areas in which you want to reduce costs and optimize resources, and then recommend the appropriate mix of virtualization technology and IT processes to achieve those goals.

Support for Solaris 10 Systems

Sun provides a variety of support options for the management of your heterogeneous IT infrastructure. These options include traditional support plans for systems and the Solaris OS as well as remote and onsite management:

• Sun Onsite Operations Management is a customized service that provides dedicated resources to help reduce operational risk and ensure success during the implementation of new Sun solutions, such as virtualizing your infrastructure. Or, it can simply provide you with access to key skills.

• Sun Remote Operations Management offers remote monitoring and management for all components of your IT infrastructure, including systems at the OS-level, third-party and custom applications, databases, networks, security, storage, and the Web.

For Solaris 10 support, Sun offers multiple types and levels of support, such as:

• Sun System Service Plans for the Solaris OS, which include integrated hardware and operating system support for Sun SPARC and Sun x86/x64 systems, available on per system basis
• Solaris Subscription Service Plans, which provide individual system or enterprise-wide support for the Solaris 10 OS on Sun SPARC and Sun and non-Sun x86/x64 systems
• Service Plans for Sites and Solutions, which provide support for your site as a whole, rather than on a unit-by-unit basis, which can make better business and financial sense
