I have worked as a senior engineer in the Solaris Patch System Test team for the last four years, part sys admin, part patch tester and test development, and a bit of patch tools support.

So I have a good in-depth understanding of patches and the necessary tools. Also, I have a good in-depth understanding of Solaris Zones and how they relate to patching.

Prior to Sun, I worked at Oracle in the database development organization for four years. I also worked on Oracle patch tools (Opatch). And prior to that, in a hospital IT department, overseeing their network infrastructure, mostly Microsoft Windows-based.

I have about eight years of work experience in Systems Software Development. I have been with Sun for two and a half years now. I was working with IBM prior to joining Sun. I worked on varied projects, for various clients, including Networking, TCP/IP, routing protocols, and tools for performance and debugging. I have held various roles from Systems Engineer to Team/Project Lead.

At Sun, I work for the Approachability and Interoperability group of the Solaris Sustaining organization. As a part of this group, our main function is to provide source code level support to our customers worldwide. I am involved in sustaining userland libraries, tools/commands, install, JumpStart, patching, packaging, Solaris LiveUpgrade, and so on. As a Sustaining Engineer, I have been involved in projects and also provide mentoring my colleagues. I have a strong passion for programming and debugging.

I have reasonable experience in Solaris kernel, file systems, crash dump analysis as well. My hobbies are playing tennis and watching a lot of movies.
