Welcome to Network Computing 03-Q2 (NC03-Q2), Sun's second quarterly release of 2003. In this worldwide event, we're building on the momentum established last quarter by announcing new network computing products, services, and infrastructure solutions that take Sun's network computer offering to the next level.

The Bottom Line
When I travel around the world and talk to customers, many of them tell me they're tired of assembling systems out of random parts from lots of different places and hoping they'll work together. We have a solution: It's called the network computer. Servers, storage, software, and services--all certified to work together to accelerate time to ROI. And with NC03-Q2 Sun is bringing new levels of availability, security, manageability, and value to the network computer.

At NC03-Q2 we're announcing lots of great features aimed at helping our customers simplify buying decisions, ease deployment, and build integrated solutions for the toughest business problems. In the hardware space we're announcing the Sun StorEdge 6000 product family--offering you 20 percent higher performance at 20 percent lower cost. We also have the entry-level Sun Fire V210 and V240 servers--UltraSPARC processor-based systems at x86 price points.

In the software space we're redoubling our focus on the Trusted Solaris Operating Environment--the only operating system with the highest level of security certification available on the x86 platform. We're really excited about the N1 Data Platform, the first enterprise-class data consolidation services deployment platform. It's designed to help customers increase utilization and decrease the cost of managing their infrastructure, while maintaining control of the data center. We've also announced a roster of Infrastructure Solutions & Services that help our customers reduce the cost and complexity of delivering IT services, and increase service levels, at a lower cost.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg. We're committed to delivering a better, more full-featured, usable, customizable, and integratable network computer for our customers. Technological initiatives and innovations like Project Orion and Throughput Computing will help us deliver better availability, security, manageability, and value.
