Cynthia McGuire has been at Sun for over six years and is currently a senior
engineer in the Solaris Kernel RAS group. In addition to general kernel
infrastructure design and implementation, Cynthia has been involved in
distributed file systems, fault-tolerant systems design, and I/O technologies.
Cynthia is a co-designer and contributor to the Sun Predictive Self-Healing
architecture with a focus on fault management. Cynthia is a recipient of the
Sun Microsystems, Inc. 2005 Chairman's Award for Innovation and was named one
of InfoWorld's Innovators of the year for 2005 for her contributions to
Predictive Self-Healing.
Liane Praza
Liane Praza has been with Sun Microsystems for eight years and holds the position
of staff engineer in the Solaris kernel group. She inflicts most of her changes
on the Solaris OS under the auspices of resource and service management. Liane is
the lead engineer for the Solaris Service Management Facility (smf(5)), helping to modernize Solaris system administration and architect Self-Healing software services.
Liane joined Sun in 1997, to participate in the testing and development of
clustered devices and file systems. She is a recipient of the Sun
Microsystems, Inc. 2005 Chairman's Award for Innovation. Prior to her life
at Sun, she earned a BS in Computer Science at Purdue University.
