Sun Microsystems is a leading maker of UNIX-based servers used to power
corporate computer networks and Web sites. It also makes workstation
computers and a widening range of disk- and tape-based storage systems.
Unlike most hardware vendors, Sun makes computers that use its own chips (SPARC)
and operating system (Solaris). Its software portfolio includes application
server, office productivity, and network management applications. Sun also
developed Java, a programming language for creating software that can run
unchanged on any kind of computer.

Sun Microsystems Czech Republic established a sales, professional services
and support services center in Prague in 1994.
In 1999 Sun completed the acquisition of NetBeans and moved all the
organizations together into a new office in Business Center Hadovka in June
2000.
Based on the acquisition of NetBeans in 1999, SUN Microsystems started
to build one of its worldwide development sites in Prague.
The Prague Engineering Center in 2005 employs about 170 people, working
mostly in 4 software divisions: Java and Developer Tools Group, Software
Lifecycle Engineering, User Centered Software Design, and Operating

Engineers located in Prague who have strong relationships with other
development centers (Bay Area, Dublin, Japan) as most of the teams are
distributed or require frequent communication with other developers

Strategy and currently provides the core developer platform for all Sun
tools.

I-Work Program
About 43 percent of Sun's workforce participates in iWork, working part time
from home and using any of Sun's various flexible work centers when they
need an office. The company has 115 flexible office locations worldwide,
seven of them around the Bay Area. Employees' identity cards have Java
encoding. Inserting the card in a workstation instantly sets up a user's
personal preferences. Sun, which first tried out its iWork program 10 years
ago, said one initial motivation was to spur the mobile Sun employees to
spend more time in the field with customers and partners. Besides the cost
savings, another benefit turned out to be that employees like the
flexibility of choosing when, where and how they work.
We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. Employment Agency resumes

unsolicited resumes.
