Ask an Intern
What advice do you have for people that are looking to work at Sun?
If the weather is warm, go outside and enjoy the sunshine! It's not good to stay indoors and do nothing. If you are in California, enjoy the beautiful natural scenery that surrounds you as time will quickly pass away. Go enjoy the beaches, the world-class sites, and national parks. Enjoy every weekend because they are precious times.
Can you share your thoughts about Sun values?
Sun is about sharing, wearing the "white hat" in the tech industry. As our CEO Scott McNealey says, he wants the employees to have a healthy work-life balance and I believe this is a positive rarity in today's highly competitive world.
What is your source of inspiration?
The people around me are my inspiration. If I am with my friends, they inspire me to have a good time. If I am with my co-workers, they inspire me to do a good job a work. If I am with the opposite sex, they inspire me to improve myself.
Do you have any tips for Innovating?
My perception is that the managers at SunLabs give you a lot of freedom to add enhancements to your projects, so you definitely can add in new features into the project from your own creative aspirations
What do you like best about working at Sun?
It's hard to pick one factor. I like the casual dress, the innovative environment, the camaraderie of the interns, and the climate.
What has been the most challenging part of your job here at Sun?
It can be frustrating when you are trying to tie parts of the project together between different phases.
Can you describe some of the projects you are doing for Sun?
I worked on developing a web-based sensitivity analysis tool intended for Sun's supply-chain managers to use when formulating their assumptions for a sales forecasting model.
What do you like to eat for lunch at Sun?
For the first two months, I ate Chinese at the cafeteria everyday, but when an intern from Holland came, he convinced me to try something else so I was eating burgers and other varieties of dishes/
