There is increasing demand to access CRM solutions from mobile devices to capture more sales opportunities and improve customer satisfaction. But developing applications for mobile devices can be expensive and challenging because of the number of mobile platforms that are being used in the market today.

Enter Sun Executive Partner AppVoyage. AppVoyage specializes in making web applications available on any mobile devices without rewriting any code. The company's tag line, “just-in-time mobile apps,” refers to the fact that Web-based applications including shopping carts can be made available to mobile devices quickly.

In 2007, AppVoyage joined Sun Startup Essentials, a program that helps startups get its business off the ground quickly with systems, software, and services at a discounted price. AppVoyage offers its services via an on-demand service or through an on-premise appliance. In either configuration, the AppVoyage proxy servers provide secure mobile access to Web applications behind an organization's firewall. SugarCRM also offers its customers an on-demand version of its software.

AppVoyage provides browser-based tools to determine the Web content and creates a virtual view of the Web application that is user-friendly and downloads quickly. Mobile content can be delivered in proxy mode or through unique URL generated on AppVoyage. Based on user defined views AppVoyage provides mobile solution to retrieve quotes, leads, and opportunities for SugarCRM from any mobile device. And there's no need for users to install code or periodically update their mobile clients.

At any given time, a mobile worker might not need access to an entire web application such as CRM or ERP. Instead they need nuggets of information that, in some cases may originate from multiple backend systems. As a result, the mobile application itself may be quite different from the traditional business application that exists today.

“AppVoyage offers on-demand service and tools to mobile enable web applications like CRM, or location based ad-campaign with shopping cart for M-commerce” says Golla. There are other programs that might show contacts, but AppVoyage is much more dynamic and flexible. AppVoyage’s solution is published on SugarExchange, SugarCRM’s online marketplace for third party products and services. Often business processes change; but users don’t have to reinstall a local client because the [application] view is built on the fly, so it is always up-to-date.

In addition, the AppVoyage solution is device-independent. “Using our on-demand service web application developers can rapidly deploy mobile solutions to meet customer demand and generate additional revenue without worrying about intricate details of deploying mobile application and concentrate on their core competencies” adds Golla.
