An international law firm handling some of the largest antitrust, global litigation, and intellectual property practices in the world, Howrey Simon Arnold & White, LLP has 11 offices in the U.S. and Europe, 500 attorneys worldwide, and generates $400 million in annual revenue. Howrey turned to Sun for an Infrastructure Solution for Enterprise Consolidation in mid 2003. The Infrastructure Solution from Sun is helping Howrey to realize tangible results, including anticipated overall IT savings of $2.87 million per year. This includes $848,000 in the first year. The legal services firm also estimates $2 million to $4 million in annual productivity loss avoidance due to system interruptions and other downtime. Deployed in a 6-week time to market, the new data center infrastructure helped improve system performance by an estimated 20 percent and drive system availability from 99.85 percent to more than 99 percent. The new storage environment is designed for rapid scale and is expected to handle 50% growth in storage capacity by the end of 2004.

PT. Excelcomindo Pratama (Excelcom)
Excelcom, a leading GSM dual-band telco operator in Indonesia, had too many server and storage systems in its data center and that they were increasingly difficult to manage. These and other performance issues with its existing IBM and Compaq servers prompted excelcom to consolidate up to 10 servers on just two high-performance Sun servers-a Sun Fire 6800 and a Sun Enterprise 10000 system. Both are supported by a single Sun StorEdge T3 array, and all three systems run the Solaris Operating Environment. As the result of consolidation, excelcom has achieved its objectives of easier management, cost savings through enhanced performance, and reduced floor space for its data center.
