About the SunPCi III coprocessor card

The SunPCi III coprocessor card is a cost-effective hardware-based solution for Sun systems that allows the sharing of data, peripherals, and network connections between Microsoft Windows and the Solaris Operating Environment. Featuring the mobile AMD Athlon XP 1600+ processor, up to 1 GB of memory, on-board high resolution AGP 8x equivalent 24-bit graphics, an on-board Ethernet port, and up to three USB 2.0 and one 1394a (FireWire) ports, the SunPCi III card allows familiar PC applications to run at native speeds. Providing Windows application support and connectivity on Sun systems alongside Solaris applications saves space, energy, and system management costs while helping to improve personal productivity.

In addition to its own Ethernet port, the card also supports sharing of a Sun system’s Ethernet port(s) for increased networking flexibility. Three USB ports and a FireWire port, as well as serial and parallel ports, provide support for PC-standard I/O devices such as digital media devices, keyboards, mice, storage, and printers.

Best of all, the SunPCi III card enables companies to leverage the reliable and robust network computing of Sun systems for deploying critical development environments and applications.
