The Sun Java Workstation W2100z delivers
extreme x64 computing
performance, earning several records in well-recognized industry
standard and application benchmarks and demonstrating outstanding
performance on real-world applications when compared to the competition.
The Sun Java Workstation W2100z posted the
fastest run-time and
the best Composite Score against all other platforms listed on the EnSight graphics-oriented benchmark. These results proved that the Sun
Java Workstation W2100z, using an NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 graphics card, outperforms all other current high-end MCAE/MCAD desktops, including
the Apple Power Mac G5 with ATI Radeon 9800 video card and HP's Xeon-based xw6200 with NVIDIA's Quadro FX 3400 video card. One of the leading MCAE/MCAD applications, EnSight goes beyond mere postprocessing, providing a complete tool for all types of engineering analysis, visualization and communication.
The Sun Java Workstation W2100z brings the real
computing power to the desktop as demonstrated by the SPECompM2001 score of 5085. This
result is a World Record for all systems running 2-threads. The Sun
Java Workstation W2100z is a programming platform that provides a portable
and scalable foundation for developing parallel applications.
The dual processor Sun Java Workstation W2100z
demonstrated
outstanding performance on SPEC CPU2000 benchmark, including a World
Record floating point result in 2 CPU x86 category. SPEC CPU2000 is an
industry-standard benchmark which measures CPU and memory intensive
computing tasks. It is made up of two benchmark suites focused on
integer and floating point performance. The Sun Java Workstation W2100z
achieved a SPECfp_rate2000 result of 39.6, using compilers from
Pathscale, Inc. and The Portland Group.
The Sun Java Workstation W2100z, equipped with two AMD
Opteron 250
processors running the Solaris 10 OS, achieved up to 34% better performance than the Dell Precision 650 workstation with two
3.2 GHz Intel Xeon processor running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0. The
BLAST v2.2.9 benchmark, which models a BioInformatics Application
performing pattern matching for nucleotides and amino acids, was
provided by the National Center for Biotechnology Information.
The Sun Java Workstation W2100z zooms by the
competition with a
new World Record result as measured by OCUS (Olaf Corten's Utilities)
benchmark version 4. This well recognized benchmark is considered very
representative of PTC Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire MCAD-related desktop
activities and consists of Graphics, CPU and I/O intensive tasks. The
Sun Java Workstation W2100z, equipped with an AMD Opteron 252 processor, 4
GB of memory, NVIDIA FX 4000 video card and running Windows XP
Professional, holds the top spot on this benchmark, further confirming
Sun's commitment to deliver the most robust and the highest performing workstations
to the global engineering community.
