Java CAPS

Java CAPS

Businesses can no longer tolerate monolithic application projects that take too long, cost too much and deliver too little. They can no longer support hundreds of applications containing duplicate functionality and silos of customer and product information. And they can no longer afford to take a different approach to support the same fundamental business processes just because the customer interaction is now taking place over the web.

By adopting a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) for new development, businesses can adopt a standards based approach to enable the re-use of existing application functionality to support new business processes, dramatically reducing time to market. The Sun Java Composite Applications Suite (JCAPS) provides all the tools for developing a SOA application. JCAPS is a suite of applications that help design, develop, deploy, and manage SOA solutions. It consists of Enterprise Designer, Enterprise Manager, a Repository, and an Integration server. JCAPS also includes a host of eWays and eGates for connecting to various third party applications and processes such as SAP, Oracle, Sybase, jdbc, file systems, Java Message Queues, etc.

This Google Mashup demo is one such illustration as to how easy it is to combine information into two completely separate web applications into a completely different application. It literally only took about 2 weeks, using the JCAPS tools, to take the data from CraigsList and Google and combine it to create this Realty application which simulates how a user can search for a house on Craiglist & immediately get directions for the same on his PDA/cell.

Search In the Music

Search in the Music

The goal of the 'Search Inside the Music' project is to explore new methods of categorizing, indexing and organizing large collections of music to allow more effective ways of searching through these collections. This project will extend music search to search 'inside the music', that is, to search not just titles, keywords and artists, but to search music by music content and context. We want to help people find and organize their music based on all of of the properties of the music including such properties such as acoustic similarity, mood, lyrics, musical theme, melody, tempo, rhythm, and instrumentation.

It focusses on two areas: using acoustic similarity to help people find music that 'sounds similar' to music that they already like, and using social data to recommend and organize music based upon the listening habits of people with similar musical tastes.

Sun Ray (Virtual Display Clients)

Sun Ray

Sun Ray virtual display clients provide customers with an interoperable desktop computing solution that reduces the maintenance, upgrading, and operational costs associated with most PC environments. The new Sun Ray 2 and Sun Ray 2FS clients are plug and play devices that can easily be connected to any Sun Ray environment. No costly server, client or software upgrades are necessary as these new clients work well with all past and current versions of Sun Ray Server Software. This provides tremendous investment protection for Sun Ray customers.

Interoperability:

Sun will offer a fully licensed RDP client, otherwise known as the Sun Ray Connector for Windows[TM]. This feature enables a direct connection to Windows Terminal Services and it can be used to provide a full-screen Windows desktop or provide access to specific Windows applications on a Solaris or Linux desktop. Users can access local peripherals, cut and paste between applicationson different operating systems and use a smart card to authenticate to Windows applications.

We also demonstrate Sun Ray Laptops by NatureTech and Accutech

Biometric and Sun Ray

Biometric and Sun Ray

This is a multi-biometric, open system, policy-based, biometric fusion and authentication solution designed for the enterprise. It consists of an authentication mechanism, as well as graphical management and advanced administration tools.

This solution was implemented by our partner AC Technology who integrated the SunRay architecture along with a retina based biometric scanner & a fingerprinting based biometric scanner to offer multi authentication system to allow only authorized personnel from accessing the information on clearing the different authentication levels.

This solution also consists of an Oracle 9i database, JES Directory server and JES Identity server 6.1 which acts as a repository to store the scanned biometrics images in the database, managing various roles for users based on their privileges and keeping audit trails of users access to the system.

Solaris 10

Solaris 10

Solaris 10 Containers:

A Solaris Container is a private, secure software environment – any number of which can run on a single CPU of a system that is running Solaris. They are fault tolerant – meaning that the applications and services that run within a single container cannot be affected by faults that occur within a different container on the same system. Each container has its own notion of root, port numbering, IP address and file system. And each can have its own defined quantity of memory and CPU resources.

This demo is a graphical representation of the containers in real time configured in the host Solaris OS. In this demo one can showcase how easy it is to deploy/delete a complete container right from scratch & also modify its properties in terms of CPU time & memory allocated for each user.

DTrace:

DTrace is a comprehensive dynamic tracing framework for the Solaris™ Operating Environment. DTrace provides a powerful infrastructure to permit administrators, developers, and service personnel to concisely answer arbitrary questions about the behavior of the operating system and user programs.

The Solaris Dynamic Tracing Guide describes how to use DTrace to observe, debug and tune system behavior.

This demo showcases the various probes which can be configured on a Solaris Operating system & subsequently monitored in the DTrace GUI. For example, if one needs to find out all the processes & the system calls being launched when say a mozilla browser opens...a corresponding probe needs to be set up in a demo menu & when the browser is launched it will show a complete list of system calls executed.

Sun Cluster

Sun Cluster

Sun Cluster Geographic Edition (Codename Odyssey)

Hurricanes. Tornadoes. Earthquakes. Which disaster could destroy your data center, inflicting millions of dollars in losses? In today's global economy, where 24x7 access to information is a critical business need, organizations must have a strategy for protecting, recovering, and ensuring data and application availability in the event of disasters. Sun understands the importance of disaster prevention and recovery — and we understand your business critical applications, systems and storage requirements.

Sun Cluster Geographic Edition adds multi-cluster, multi-site, capability and associated disaster recovery features to the Sun Cluster base product. Odyssey consists of a geographically distributed set of clusters, some of which serve as primary sites, while others are alternative sites that can take over the services of the primaries should they fail.

Sun Cluster Geographic Edition is different from campus/metro clusters in that it is not one (1) but several clusters, combined with a layer on top. This approach solves the problem of the potential single point of failure which is in the cluster software itself and in the shared data. Keep in mind, that solving the disaster recovery problem needs much more than a product!
