Expectations for the Year of the Rat

Lionel LimThe lunar new year is around the corner. The Year of the Rat was welcomed in ancient times as a protector and bringer of material prosperity.

This seems contrary to what newsmakers have been saying about signs of an economic slowdown. Regardless of whether you're expecting a slowdown, the need to deliver more with less on one's IT infrastructure will remain true.

Regardless of where the market heads, businesses today will still need to grow and remain agile to address customer needs. Therefore we can expect businesses to increase their focus on guarding and growing their market share.

The constant need for IT leaders to justify IT expenditures in a financially accountable fashion will increase. Expectations will increase and CIOs will be expected to constantly illustrate how IT investments deliver greater value and competitiveness to their business to create avenues of growth.
