Day 2 Morning General Session

Ian Murdock, an open source and Linux pioneer, shares his perspective on how open source software and general purpose hardware is changing IT's background. Jon Toigo discusses key business initiatives (compliance archiving, data center greening, and data protection and security) and older drivers (cost savings, risk reduction and process improvement) and how they require the cooperative efforts of business management and corporate IT. Jon also discusses the role of data analysis and management to enable decision makers to better pursue their objectives, the need to shape IT into a business innovator so that it is viewed as more than overhead expense, and steps that IT leaders should be doing today.
