OEM Engineering provides engineering support in the areas of hardware, platform software and firmware for Sun OEM products. This support helps new OEM product development and assists OEMs with engineering issues during product transitions and systems integration. The OEM Engineering team works closely with local field engineers to ensure OEM Partners succeed in developing and deploying their solutions based on products and technologies purchased or licensed from Sun.
Key functions of OEM Engineering are:
Acting as the engineering interface between OEM Support group and Sun product groups
Providing technical support to Sun Field SEs who work with OEM customers on proof of concepts, product transitions and new design wins
Supporting OEM customers during system integration when they run into technical issues by identifying root cause of engineering issues and working with Sun product development groups on resolution of such issues for OEMs
Assisting OEMs with problem isolation and possible suggestions for work-arounds and working with Sun product development groups on release of actual fix for the problems
Follow up with Sun product development groups on identified product technical issues
Supporting OEMs in the area of 3rd party technology issues and working with Sun product development groups on resolution of such issues for OEMs
Engineering support for OEM Loaners Program and equipment loaned to OEM customers
Performing Out of the Box Experience (OBE) for new pre-released products that go into the OEM Loaners pool
Providing hands-on training for Field SEs and OEMs on new products when necessary
