SunVTS

SunVTS, Sun Validation Test Suite, tests and validates Sun hardware by verifying the connectivity and functionality of hardware devices, controllers and peripherals. SunVTS is used by OPs, OEMs, SunService/Field, Design Engineering, SQA and end users to ensure a "clean bill of health" of the overall system under test and its underlying hardware. Several diagnosability features incorporated in SunVTS, make it an effective diagnostics tool. It stimulates, detects and identifies hardware faults. The tool is used for both Hardware validation and repair verfication.

SunVTS supports a flexible interface that allows a user to remotely schedule and monitor anything from a single test on a single piece of hardware to multiple instances of multiple tests in order to fully stress the system. SunVTS runs on all Sun SPARC based platforms supporting Solaris 2.5 or later releases. SunVTS also runs on many Sun x86 based platforms supporting Solaris 10 or later. The list of supported Sun x86 platforms is available in the User Guide associated with each release.

SunVTS is offered free-of-charge to Sun system and board-level customers to use for testing their products.

SunVTS Support

Sun will provide telephone and/or e-mail support for SunVTS only for companies which have purchased Sun Systems and board level products directly from Sun or an authorized Sun Distributor. For Sun Systems and board-level products, SunVTS support is available during the warranty period from Sun Enterprise Services Worldwide Solution Centers. For Sun SPARC Customers who have purchased Sun SPARC chips, support is available through the "Contact Us" page.

SunVTS is upgraded and released approximately once per quarter, usually to coincide with new Solaris releases. Sun customers should return to the SunVTS site periodically to obtain the latest SunVTS release and associated documentation.

SunVTS Toolkit

Description: The SunVTS Toolkit provides software developers with the necessary tools to develop, integrate, and deploy their own diagnostic tests for the SunVTS diagnostic environment.

The SunVTS Toolkit is comprised of 32-bit and 64-bit test libraries, integration utilities, sample development files, SunVTS kernel monitoring tools, test development man pages, and the SunVTS Toolkit Test Developer's Guide.

The toolkit is designed for software development professionals who have UNIX system programming knowledge and intend to augment the diagnosability of SunVTS on their specific hardware by adding more hardware tests.

The SunVTS Toolkit is offered as "freeware" for which Sun offers no support other than that which may be found in the SunVTS Toolkit associated documentation.
