Purchasing Sun Products

As an authorized Sun OEM, you may choose to purchase Sun products through one of several distribution channels, including Sun's direct sales organization, SunStore (Sun's online ordering system), Sun CDPs (Channel Development Partner), or Distributors. The available purchasing channels may vary based on your country of operation, destination of shipped products, and local Sun business practices. Which channel you select depends on which purchasing model best suits your business needs and local policies. You may elect to transition to another purchasing affiliation according to the terms of your Sun OEM contract.

When contacting Sun, a Sun CDP, or other Sun product Distributor to purchase products, you must provide your OEM Agreement number. Each OEM company is assigned a single agreement number, regardless of the number of purchasing locations.

Your Sun sales, CDP, or Distributor representative is your primary contact for information on product shipments, backlog status, order expediting, confirmation of delivery dates, price protection, and marketing issues.

Purchasing Directly from Sun
To purchase directly from Sun in the United States, OEM Partners must qualify for a minimum credit line and purchase a minimum amount of Sun products per year. If you are accepted as an authorized OEM and fail to maintain the required credit line and minimum purchase requirements, you will be required to purchase product from an authorized CDP or Distributor. You may also voluntarily transition to purchase from a Sun CDP or Distributor. Transitioning to another purchasing affiliation will not affect your status as an authorized Sun OEM.

Purchasing from Indirect Channels
OEMs who do not wish to purchase directly from Sun may choose to sign an agreement with a Sun CDP or Distributor. Your Sun sales representative can provide information specific to the choices available to you.

Designated Channel Development Partner
If this option is elected, all products shall be purchased from the designated CDP or from the SunStore unless an exception is granted by Sun in writing.

SunStore Online Ordering System
The SunStore online ordering system is available for OEMs wishing to purchase Sun products. OEM Partners can register through the OEM PartnerWeb.

Sun is pleased to be able to offer our OEM partners a variety of ways to purchase our products. However, partners are not allowed to issue orders directly to Sun and to the CDP or Distributor at the same time with the intent of one order being canceled in favor of the other order.
