Dell Will Sell Solaris on PowerEdge Servers Sun Microsystems, Inc.
At Oracle Open World, it was announced that Dell will sell the Solaris Operating System and Solaris support services on select Dell PowerEdge servers, making it the third vendor to endorse the Solaris OS this year.

Sun/Microsoft Agreement Announced Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Sun and Microsoft announced an expanded strategic alliance, which further extends Sun's reach into the x64 server market. Your customers will be able to take advantage of the virtualization benefits of both Windows and Solaris on Sun's energy efficient x64 systems. Sun is now a Windows Server OEM.

First Blade Designed for Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processors Sun Microsystems, Inc.
Sun has announced the Sun Blade X8440 Server Module, the world's first blade server designed for AMD's Quad-Core Opteron processors. Also previewed was a next-generation four-socket, 2U quad-core server powered by Quad-Core AMD Opteron processors (available by the end of the year).
