Enhancements to Sun Partner Program Provide More Choice and Greater Value

November 3, 2008 — Now it's easier than ever for resellers and Sun partners to offer the full range of Sun Microsystems software to their customers. The Sun Partner Advantage Open Access Channel Program allows resellers to sell Sun software without entry barriers, and the Software Specialties Program provides partners with a simple framework for building profitable services practices, such as identity management and service oriented architecture (SOA), utilizing Sun software.

Through Open Access, organizations benefit through increased simplicity and choice to purchase Sun software through the channel. Software Specialties offer customers a community of highly skilled partner resources that can solve their unique business problems with Sun technologies and intellectual capital, delivering greater value with higher quality of services and expertise for more successful solution deployments.


These two new software channel programs enable Sun resellers and partners to expand their businesses into new markets and provide customers with new ways to solve urgent business problems including: the need to quickly develop new applications, run them more securely, connect with more customers, protect user identities, and provide a more flexible infrastructure for their company's growth.

Open Access for All

The new Open Access Channel Program gives resellers a simple, no-barrier-to-entry option for selling Sun's software portfolio. With Open Access, resellers do not need to invest in contracts or certification, and training is optional. This new program gives distributors the opportunity to offer Sun software to existing resellers not currently affiliated with Sun and aids in recruiting new resellers. Distributors can grow their businesses by cultivating new partners while resellers can now expand their product line with Sun's software solutions. Customers throughout the world will benefit as well with easier access to Sun's award winning software portfolio.


Open Access to Sun Software

With the Open Access Channel Program, resellers and channel partners have access to any and all of Sun's software products, including the Solaris OS with no barriers to entry and applications for eco-efficient computing, virtualization, high performance computing, and office productivity.

Channel partners may sell the Sun software that makes the most sense for their customers. Partners can also offer customers software subscriptions and support options for Sun's open source products, such as MySQL, OpenSSO, and OpenSolaris.
