UltraSPARC Unleashed: OpenSPARC Get It

About UltraSPARC Processors

Learn about the origin of OpenSPARC, the UltraSPARC T1 processor from the source.

About SPARC Technology

SPARC stands for Scalable Processor ARchitecture. The technology is based on pioneering research around RISC at the University of California, Berkeley. It has been the basis of Sun's premiere line of servers since its introduction as the first "pizza box" in 1989. That same year, Sun transferred the ownership of the SPARC specifications to Sparc International, who continues to license the technology and manage compliance testing for the trademark today.

OpenSPARC: Innovation Opportunities with the World's First Open Source CPU

Sun opened the design code for its UltraSPARC T1 processor and the OpenSPARC community was born. Now developers around the world are innovating at the chip level to meet the high throughput demands of Web 2.0. In this informative Net Talk, you'll learn what's behind the world's first open source CPU and the dynamic OpenSPARC community. Listen in as our expert panelists explore the many opportunities that OpenSPARC offers to developers and architects.
